Fort Lauderdale was a fantastic event! What a great way to start off the 2010 season! 2nd place and LIVE on ESPN2! Tyra and I started the event with some jitters. We lost in the third round and had to battle back one match at a time. We played 4 matches each day and felt stronger and stronger as the tournament went on.
We had a few mental breakthrough matches, which was really great. We beat Davis/Jordan in a tight 3 set match which marked the first time in 6 seasons that I beat this team. (The last time was in 2004 Tempe, Arizona with partner Sarah Straton.) The next big breakthrough was beating Kessy/Ross, defending World Champions, in 2 sets, 24-22, 21-8! This was my first time beating this team in about 10 tries!
The weather held up all weekend until the Finals when it was a cold and rainy mess! But we had so much fun that it did not matter one bit!
We are so excited for more great things to come! Next up: Santa Barbara AVP and then we hit the road for three FIVB international events!
